Trailer Sailer 21
Description
The Trailer Sailer 21 by Karl Stambaugh (of Chesapeake Marine Design) is a 21-foot plywood trailerable pocket cruiser designed as an easy-to-build, economical, and practical family daysailer/weekend cruiser. It is a plans-built design (no factory production), intended for amateur builders using simple plywood construction techniques (stitch-and-glue or sheet plywood with chine logs). The boat features a stable, beamy hull with a centerboard or leeboards for shallow draft and beaching capability, a small cabin with sitting headroom, basic berths for 2–4, and a large cockpit. It is popular among home builders for coastal gunkholing, protected-water sailing, and events like messabouts or the Texas 200, emphasizing simplicity, low cost, and good sailing qualities without complex systems.
