Tramp (Eagle)

Tramp (Eagle)

Description

Tramp trimaran (also known as the Tramp/Eagle) is a pioneering 19.5-foot trailerable folding trimaran designed by Ian Farrier. It was his first production folding trimaran and a groundbreaking design in the early 1980s for combining exciting multihull performance with practical trailering and quick setup. The Tramp was built primarily by Haines Hunter in Australia (early 1980s, with the Super Tramp variant in 1982–1983). It earned recognition as Australian Boat of the Year in 1981. The U.S. version was marketed as the Eagle by Pyramid International. Later, Ostac produced a refined version with the cuddy. Farrier’s innovative folding system (without hinges in the beams on some evolutions) allowed the amas to fold inward for easy trailering and storage while providing rock-solid stability when extended.
