Van De Stadt 48
Description
The Van de Stadt 48 is a robust bluewater cruising yacht designed by the renowned Dutch naval architect E. G. van de Stadt (Ericus Gerhardus van de Stadt, 1910–1999), a pioneer of modern yacht design and early GRP production boats. It was offered primarily as a stock plan for amateur or professional builders (often in steel or aluminum for long-distance capability), with some custom or semi-custom examples completed by various yards such as Vitters Shipyard in the Netherlands. Exact production numbers are not well-documented due to its plans-based nature, but only a handful of completed hulls are known to exist, making it a relatively rare design compared to van de Stadt’s more mass-produced smaller models.
