Van De Stadt Caribbean 40
Description
The Van de Stadt Caribbean 40 is a seaworthy, bluewater-oriented cruising yacht designed by the influential Dutch naval architect E. G. van de Stadt (Ericus Gerhardus van de Stadt). It was offered primarily as stock plans (design № 418) for amateur or professional builders, with completed hulls constructed in various materials including steel, aluminum, and occasionally wood/epoxy or woodcore. There was no single mass-production factory; instead, individual or small-yard builds (e.g., by Aluboot, Van Benthum, or other Dutch/ European yards) resulted in a relatively small number of boats — exact quantity is low and not precisely documented, but only a handful of examples are known to exist or trade on the market today. Many were built in the 1980s–2000s and have proven themselves on long-distance voyages, including circumnavigations.
