Vintage

Vintage

Description

The Vintage is a charming 10-foot round-bilge lapstrake sailing dinghy designed by William Atkin (of Atkin & Co.) in October 1919. It was created as a balanced, burdensome little packet specifically for Captain Thomas Fleming Day (founder of The Rudder magazine), who wanted a boat that would sail well, row easily, and handle a small outboard motor. The design is a classic early-20th-century round-bilge dinghy with lapstrake (clinker) planking, a simple gaff or sprit rig, and wholesome, traditional lines. It was intended as a tender, daysailer, or small utility boat rather than a cruiser.
