Vivacity 21
Description
The Vivacity 21 (also marketed as the Vivacity 650) is a small, affordable twin-keel (bilge keel) masthead sloop designed by Alan F. Hill (with contributions from D. Pollard in some references). It was built by Russel Marine Ltd. in the UK, primarily around 1970 (with production in the early 1970s). The boat was developed as a practical family daysailer/weekender for coastal and tidal waters, offering shallow draft for beaching or drying out while providing basic cruising accommodations. It is part of the Vivacity series (including the Vivacity 20 and 24) and shares the twin-keel philosophy common in British pocket cruisers of the era for tidal access. It features a simple, forgiving layout with a twin-keel configuration for stability and versatility, a masthead sloop rig for easy handling, and light displacement for spirited performance in moderate conditions. Owners appreciate its practicality, low cost, and ability to sit upright on the tide, though it is best suited for protected to semi-protected waters rather than heavy offshore work.
