Walters 33

Walters 33

Description

The Walters 33 is a 33-foot performance-oriented masthead sloop designed by Craig V. Walters (Craig Walters Design). It was built in small numbers by Holby Marine in Bristol, Rhode Island, in the late 1980s/early 1990s as a semi-custom cruiser-racer. Holby Marine (founded by Barrett Holby) specialized in high-quality semi-custom boats, often working with noted designers like German Frers, Bill Tripp III, and Chuck Paine. The Walters 33 was one of the yard’s performance-oriented projects, emphasizing a generous sail plan for excellent light-air performance, a modern fin keel with spade rudder for responsive handling, and a practical interior for coastal cruising or club racing.
