Wauquiez Amphora
Description
The Wauquiez Amphora is a French fiberglass cruising ketch designed by the British naval architecture firm Holman & Pye. It was built by Henri Wauquiez (Chantier Wauquiez) in Neuville-en-Ferrain, France, as a center-cockpit bluewater-oriented cruiser with generous interior volume, a fin keel with skeg-hung rudder, and solid GRP construction. Introduced in 1976, the model featured a roomy layout sleeping up to 7, good headroom (over 6'2" throughout, nearly 7' in places), a full galley, navigation station, and easy engine access, making it well-suited for comfortable coastal or offshore passage making with a small crew or family. Production ran from 1976 to 1981, during which 138 boats were completed.
