Westport Skiff

Westport Skiff

Description

The Westport Skiff is a traditional American flat-bottomed (or near-flat) rowing and outboard skiff inspired by early 20th-century East Coast workboats and sharpies, originally modeled by Fred Tripp and documented by maritime historian R. H. Baker. Modern plans for the design were created by Doug Hylan of Hylan & Brown (dhylanboats.com), making it available exclusively for amateur and home builders using simple plywood or traditional wooden construction (often with epoxy for durability and leak-free performance). No commercial factory builder or series production exists; instead, it is built one-off by individuals, families, or small workshops, with an unknown but modest total number completed worldwide since the plans became widely available.
