Westsail 11.8 Meter (Westsail 39, Mariner 39)
Description
The Westsail 11.8 Meter (also known as the Westsail 39, Sailcrafter 39, Fair Weather 39, or Mariner 39) is an American fiberglass bluewater cruising cutter designed by Robert Perry. It was built by P&M Worldwide / Westsail Corp. in the United States as a modern-performance offshore cruiser with a fin keel and skeg-hung rudder configuration. Introduced in 1979 during the final years of Westsail Corporation (as the company approached bankruptcy), the model featured solid fiberglass construction, a high ballast-to-displacement ratio (~43–44%), and a traditional cutter rig for versatility in heavy weather. The interior emphasized cruising comfort with good volume and layout for extended passages. Production was extremely limited, running briefly in 1979, during which only 13 boats were completed—making it one of the rarest models in the Westsail lineup.
