Laguna Windrose 18
Description
The Windrose 18 (also known as the Laguna Windrose 18) is a compact, trailerable recreational keelboat designed by W. Shad Turner as an affordable cruiser/daysailer for the entry-level market. It was built by Laguna Yachts (later associated with Coastal Recreation) in Anaheim, California, starting in 1974 using solid fiberglass construction with a swing keel (cast iron, approximately 400 lb / 181 kg). Production continued through the late 1970s to around 1980 (exact end date varies slightly by source), with an unknown but moderate quantity built as part of Laguna’s popular Windrose series of small trailer-sailers; it is now long out of production. The design emphasizes simplicity, reasonable performance, and basic accommodations (berths for 2–4) in a lightweight package suited for coastal daysailing, fast cruising, or club racing, featuring a fractional sloop rig, V-berth forward, and outboard motor capability.
