Windship 80

Windship 80

Description

The Windship 80 is a large, luxury bluewater cruising yacht configured as a Bermudian cutter (or cutter-rigged sloop in some descriptions). It was designed and built in-house by Windship Yachts Inc. (founded by William Waite) in Clearwater, Florida. The yard specialized in high-end custom and semi-custom fiberglass cruising yachts. A documented example is from 1989; production was extremely limited (likely only a handful of hulls or one-offs/semi-custom builds), consistent with the company’s focus on large, bespoke vessels during its short lifespan (1980–1991). Construction emphasized strength, comfort, and offshore capability for world cruising, featuring a substantial displacement hull, powerful sail plan, spacious luxury accommodations, and a cutter rig suited to shorthanded passagemaking with excellent upwind performance and seakeeping.
