Chesapeake Marine Windward 21
Description
The Windward 21 by Karl A. Stambaugh is a plywood daysailer/cuddy cruiser designed as a modern interpretation of traditional Chesapeake Bay Seaside Bateaux (workboat) forms. It was created by naval architect Karl A. Stambaugh and offered as plans through Chesapeake Marine Design (CMD) for amateur builders. No factory production occurred; it is a plans-only design for stitch-and-glue or similar plywood construction, with an unknown but small number of hulls built by homebuilders since its introduction. The boat emphasizes traditional looks, load-carrying ability, stability, beachability, and simplicity for family daysailing or light overnighting, featuring a large cockpit, small cuddy cabin forward (for dry storage or minimal berths), and a yawl rig (main + mizzen) that aids singlehanded control and balance.
