Chesapeake Marine Design Winward 28 Sail Plan 1

Chesapeake Marine Design Winward 28 Sail Plan 1

Description

The Windward 28 Sail Plan I is one of two sail plans included with the plans for the Windward 28, an extended shallow-draft cruising sailboat designed by Karl A. Stambaugh of Chesapeake Marine Design (CMD). It is a plywood glue-and-screw construction boat intended for amateur builders, with generous cabin accommodations (V-berth, galley, settees, and head space) for thin-water cruising. The hull features a centerboard for beachability and trailering. Sail Plan I is a Bermudan (Marconi) ketch rig (split rig with main and mizzen), which is easy to handle shorthanded and reduces sail area quickly when needed. (Sail Plan II is the other variant, often described as similar or a slight variation; some built examples use a gaff ketch configuration as a custom choice.)
