Windward Sailing Skiff 15

Windward Sailing Skiff 15

Description

The Windward Sailing Skiff 15 (heavier, wider than the Windward 15 with a flat bottom) is a lightweight plywood daysailer/beach cruiser designed by Karl A. Stambaugh of Chesapeake Marine Design (CMD). It is offered as plans for amateur builders using "glue-and-screw" plywood construction (not stitch-and-glue), with an unknown but moderate number of hulls completed by homebuilders since its introduction. The design draws from traditional Chesapeake Bay crabbing skiffs and seaside bateaux, featuring a vee-bottom hull for a surprising turn of speed, a simple rig, shallow draft for easy beaching and trailering, and a spacious cockpit ideal for family daysailing or light cruising. It includes a small cuddy or forward deck area, positive stability, and outboard motor capability on the transom. Builders often praise its forgiving handling, traditional aesthetics, and straightforward build.
