Lagoon 420 Catamaran
Description
The Lagoon 420 is a French cruising catamaran designed by Van Peteghem/Lauriot-Prévost (VPLP) as a comfortable liveaboard and charter boat, notable for being the first series-produced sailboat offered with diesel-electric hybrid propulsion as standard (later versions also available with conventional twin diesels). It was built by Lagoon Catamarans (a division of the Beneteau Group, with some early association with Jeanneau) in France, with production running from 2006/2007 to around 2009–2010. Approximately 270 hulls were completed before the model was discontinued and eventually replaced by the Lagoon 42. The design prioritizes spacious accommodations (typically 4 cabins + 4 heads, sleeping up to 8–10), a high freeboard and bulky coachroof for volume, twin keels for stability and shoal draft, and easy handling for shorthanded or charter crews on coastal or bluewater passages.
