Allied Wright 40 Ketch

Allied Wright 40 Ketch

Description

The Wright 40 Ketch (also known as the Allied Wright 40) is a heavy-displacement fiberglass cruising ketch designed by Arthur Edmunds (with some sources also crediting Sparkman & Stephens influence) and built by Allied Boat Company in the USA. Production was limited, primarily in the late 1970s (around 1977–1978), as a stretched variant of the Allied Mistress 39 with an extended stern for improved accommodations and balance. It was developed as a capable bluewater or coastal cruiser, emphasizing stability, sea-kindliness, and shorthanded ease with the split ketch rig rather than raw speed. The hull is solid fiberglass with a keel/centerboard configuration for versatility in draft and grounding.
