X Boat 119 Fractional Rig (X-119)
Description
The X-119 (also known as the X Boat 119 Fractional Rig or X 119) is a high-performance fractional sloop-rigged racer/cruiser designed by Niels Jeppesen for X-Yachts of Denmark. Introduced as a "new 12-metre one-design" and a larger sister to the successful X-79 and X-99, it was produced from 1988 to 1992 with a total of 74 hulls built. The design features a narrow beam, light displacement, T-bulb or fin keel with spade rudder, low wetted surface, and an overspecified powerful fractional rig optimized for speed in a wide range of conditions; it balances impressive upwind performance and light-air ability with enough interior comfort (including accommodations for racing or coastal cruising by two couples) to serve as a versatile non-handicap racer/cruiser.
