X Boat 452 (X-452)
Description
The X-452 (also known as the X Boat 452) is a high-performance masthead sloop-rigged cruiser-racer designed by Niels Jeppesen for X-Yachts of Denmark. Produced from 1987 to 1991, it shares its hull mold with the later X-45 luxury cruising version and was built in fiberglass (with Kevlar reinforcement in high-stress areas). A total of 20 hulls were constructed, making it a relatively rare model that combined racing pedigree (derived from IOR-influenced designs) with comfortable accommodations, including options for two- to four-cabin layouts popular in the Mediterranean. The boat features a powerful rig, fin keel with bulb, spade rudder, and strong construction via a steel frame for keel and rig loads, delivering stiff, fast sailing with good all-around performance for both club racing and bluewater-style cruising.
