X Boat IMX-38
Description
The X-Yachts IMX-38 (also known as the IMX 38) is a high-performance masthead sloop-rigged offshore one-design racer/cruiser designed by Niels Jeppesen for X-Yachts of Denmark. Produced from 1992 to 2000, a total of 92 hulls were built. It was developed from the successful X-382 hull lines but optimized specifically for the dominant IMS (International Measurement System) handicap rule, with a focus on stiff, fast sailing, excellent stability, and a modern racing deck layout that includes wheel steering (unusual for a pure racer at the time). The boat features lightweight fiberglass sandwich construction, a deep fin keel with lead bulb, spade rudder, and generous sail area for strong all-around performance in both inshore and offshore racing, while still offering practical (though spartan by cruising standards) interior accommodations for crew.
