Yorktown 39
Description
The Yorktown 39 is a classic American fiberglass sailboat from the mid-1970s (introduced around 1974), designed by Hank McCune (sometimes referenced as H. McCune or McQuen). It was built by Yorktown Marine Corp. (Yorktown Yachts) in Wilmington, California, and, like the Yorktown 33 and 35 you asked about previously, was frequently offered as a kit boat. Owners typically completed the interior, systems, rigging, and fit-out, leading to wide variations in quality, layout, and final weight. Several versions existed, including flush-deck, center-cockpit (often with aft cabin), and possibly extended-keel variants. It was marketed as an affordable, stable, roomy cruiser for coastal or occasional bluewater use, emphasizing interior volume and seaworthiness over high performance.
